In this blog article, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions we have received from property management companies as well as from owners and tenants.

General questions

Q: What does iDWELL stand for?

A: As you might have guessed, the name “iDWELL” is supposed to mean “I dwell”. iDWELL plays a leading role in digitising the property management industry due to its CRM software. Our PropTech simplifies communication between owners, tenants and property management companies while automating and streamlining processes for PMCs.

Q: What is a service request?

A so-called service request is the digital version of someone reporting a damage to you, the property manager, on the phone, in a letter or an email.

Q: What can the Digital Newsboard in my building be used for? 

A: iDWELL’s “Digital Newsboard” is the digital version of the well-known noticeboard that you usually find in the lobby. On either you will find important information or news regarding your building.

Q: Do I have to get the app to be able to report a damage to my PMC? 

A: No, that’s not necessary – you can also simply report a damage on your laptop or your computer.

Q: My property management company doesn’t use iDWELL or any other real estate property software yet – what can I do about that? 

A: Your property management company doesn’t use iDWELL yet, but you are convinced you would benefit from our software? Just leave us a quick message at contact@idwell.com and let us know which PMC is responsible for maintaining your building, so we can get in touch with them.

About the software

Q: Can I also write DMs and post general information for residents in iDWELL?

A: Yes, we have our digital noticeboard called the “Digital Newsboard” and of course, you can also use direct messages to contact residents. PMCs normally use the Digital Newsboard to get the latest news out to their customers. We also offer TV screens (in combination with the Digital Newsboard) that you can put up in the lobby.

Q: How can I manage my documents in iDWELL? 

A: You can store all your documents in iDWELL and also make them available for your customers.

You get to choose who gets access to a specific document:

    • Only a particular person
    • All tenants/owners of a flat or
    • Everyone in the building

Q: Does iDWELL really offer something called a “workflow”? 

A: Yes, that’s right, we offer more than just CRM software. We map typical processes, so-called “workflows” to save PMCs time when they deal with maintenance requests. These workflows are an automated way of dealing with requests. And if you need contractors to deal with an issue, they are also contacted automatically.

Q: Can I get iDWELL for my TV screens without having to purchase the whole package? 

Yes, you can. If you later decide that you’d like to use our ticketing system and automated processes or the App Service, we can unlock this feature for you any time.

Q: Does iDWELL offer 24h support? 

A: We are available Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Our customers can also connect the Customer Support Section in the App to the platform, so tenants and owners automatically reach our team whenever they need help.

Q: How often do you do updates? 

A: We take a proactive approach when it comes to developing software, which is why we update our software and the App every 4 to 6 weeks. Updates usually include new features, and we also make small improvements if necessary.

Q: Do you keep developing your product? 

A: We constantly strive to make our software more attractive for our customers. This means that we work around the clock to improve its user friendliness and develop new features. If you choose iDWELL you can be sure that we are going to continue to work tirelessly to improve our SaaS software for you.

Q: How many people can I roughly expect to register?

A: After six months the registration rate is as high as 30 to 40% on average, for new build homes it’s usually higher – sometimes even more than 90%!

Technical requirements

Q: Do I have to be a real techie to be able to use the software? 

A: No, on the contrary. – It was very important to us to make iDWELL as intuitive and user-friendly as possible. iDWELL is the new generation of block management software for property management companies, so it’s super simple to use.

Q: Am I going to have to install special software on my computer or can I buy a licence and use iDWELL online? 

A: You don’t need particular software for your computer; We configure a link for you, so you can access iDWELL on your mobile phone, computer or tablet. – Our software is then quick and easy to install.

Q: Does the software / the app work on every kind of smartphone or tablet?  

A: Our software is compatible with iOS as well as with Android, which means that we reach around 90% of all people with smartphones. On top of that the software has also been adapted for tablets, so your employees can edit documents during property inspections.

Q: How long does it take to install the software? 

A: Should you be interested in the basic version, we could get everything up and running in a few days tops. If you have any special requests though, like a bespoke version of our app service, it’s going to take a little longer to get everything ready – but no more than a couple of weeks.

Q: Do I need to do a quick analysis of all our processes first before getting iDWELL in order to benefit the most from it? 

A: It would be helpful, yes, but you don’t have to do an analysis to be able to use our software, no. From working with many different companies we’ve defined some basic processes that we are going to adapt together with you to make them meet your needs.

Data security at iDWELL

Q: Where is all the data that we feed into the software stored? Do you use a server or a cloud-based solution? 

A: The data we process in our CRM software and the Mobile App is stored in the AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud in Frankfurt am Main in Germany.
